What is ^Byte?
CaretByte is the Internet crawler of a new-generation Web search engine designed and implemented by HydraByte, Inc. The ^Byte Web crawler is a program that surfs the Internet to compile and process details of websites.
What is the purpose of ^Byte?
The purpose of the crawler is to collect information publicly available on the Internet. This information will be used to create a public Web search service, that serves the global community. This public Web search service will be available through the C^ret Universe.
Will ^Byte affect my website?
^Byte is a standards compliant Web crawler. The policy of the ^Byte crawler is to be fully-compliant with the robots exclusion standard. It parses any available robots.txt files and also understands the robots meta tag to meet the website administrators' expectations.
How will I know ^Byte has visited my website?
During its visit to a given website, the ^Byte crawler leaves it's signature in the logs of the visited webserver.
